Chartered in Vancouver in 1902, Sheet Metal Workers International Local Union 280 has a long-standing history of trade union membership. For over 120 years, we have advocated for the rights, safety, and working conditions of our members. We take pride in our trade and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship throughout the region.
Competitive Pay and Union Benefits
Local 280 sets the industry standard for compensation. We negotiate packages where your benefits do not come off your hourly wage—they are paid in addition to it. Our members receive per-hour pension contributions, dental and vision care, prescription drug coverage, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
- Sheet Metal Workers: $28.56 to $58.61 per hour
- Architectural Sheet Metal Workers: $28.56 to $56.10 per hour
Member Resources and Training
Local 280 provides members with the tools needed to succeed on the job. This includes technical training at the Sheet Metal Workers Training Centre, a facility jointly funded by labour and management. The centre offers Red Seal Certification, Architectural Sheet Metal courses, and skills upgrading for both apprentices and journeypersons.
